HOME The Center for Furthering Reforms and Democratic Development with the support of the European Center for Minority Issues (ECMI) has created this web site – Internet portal for supporting non-governmental organizations and communities of Javakheti region. The web site is in four languages. It is aimed at ensuring better information awareness and demand in the process of integration of the population of Javakheti in the civil society of Georgia. At present, owing to a number of objective reasons, Javakheti (where Armenians constitute 95% of the total population) is estranged from the whole Georgian civil society. At the same time, the local Armenian community is isolated from the entire world civil democratic community. The Russian military base deployed here is the sole reason of attention to the region, but this only from the geo-strategic aspect. We are still far from the real development of the region. Georgia undergoes reforms of which the population of Javakheti is not aware or has a very unclear understanding. All takes places without our participation. Stakes are made on us, while our fates are being disregarded This is the first Internet web site about Javakheti, whose organizers do not conceal names; they broadcast from Akhalkalaki and, what is most interesting, each page of the web site belongs to a specific organization having own opinion. There is no censorship or any limitations from the national, religious or any other standpoint. This is a window to the world from local NGOs. You will see news from the world of local NGOs and events that concern Javakheti. The web site is updated on a weakly basis. The NGO page contains all the information about organizations. The page About Us deals with information concerning the Project executors. The page About Javakheti concerns the historical, cultural and geographical well-known facts. We do not provide information that is fabricated and is not based on real events in order not to damage the process of integration The references Project Partners , contain pages of the region towns, as well as a catalog of partners with whom our Center cooperates; the materials will be both of information and administrative nature. Many organizations in Georgia, Armenia, Russia, USA, Europe, and globally are interested in our portal. Javakheti is currently on the junction of interests of many countries, and we would like to specify the state of civil society here. The web site is in demand, and we have many requests and references at present. We have a Guest Book to contain all your comments and opinions. To facilitate mutual contacts to the web site visitors the web site envisages a relevant feedback facility. To facilitate mutual contacts to the web site visitors the web site envisages a relevant feedback facility. Taking account of the multilingual character and the start-up of the web site, there may naturally be some technical problems (translation and related delays, server delays, etc.). We would like to apologize for such shortcomings in advance and welcome all your comments and proposals. The wen site organizers are thankful to the web site visitors and hope to establish an online contact with NGOs in Georgia, the South Caucasus and globally. |
